City of Lubbock Confirms 72 More COVID-19 Cases


As of 4:00 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2020, the City of Lubbock confirmed 72 new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19), and 16 recoveries. The total number of cases in Lubbock County is 1208: 549 active, 608 listed as recovered and 51 deaths. All this information can be found on a comprehensive dashboard at www.mylubbock.us/COVID19

The City of Lubbock Health Department and other response agencies are prepared and have employed standard response plans designed to address and resolve public health issues. The Department will continue monitoring individuals as indicated by the CDC. The Department’s disease surveillance team will continue working diligently to ensure the public remains at a low risk of contracting COVID-19.

The City of Lubbock Health Department and our health care partners will continue to monitor COVID-19 in the Lubbock area to prepare for the possibility of more local cases. Please continue to follow proper hygiene recommendations and social distancing practices.

In addition, in a statement by the Lubbock Police Department,

“The Lubbock Police Department has four employees who have tested positive for COVID-19, two who work on patrol and two who work in investigations and administration. The City of Lubbock Health Department investigation into the exposures is ongoing at this time, and it is currently unknown if those on patrol were exposed through patrol or personal activities.

The LPD building was cleaned thoroughly, the investigations and administration bureaus are working from home, and employees are being screened when reporting to work to prevent further exposures. The department continues to serve the citizens of Lubbock and continues to take precautions to prevent the transfer of COVID-19.”
