Sofia Garcia qualifies for LPGA TOUR Card



The former Red Raider finished inside the top-25 of the eight-round LPGA Q-Series Event


DOTHAN, Ala. – Former Texas Tech women's golfer Sofia Garcia has qualified for a 2023 LPGA Tour Card, after finishing tied for 24th at the 2022 LPGA Tour's Q-Series qualifying event that wrapped up at Highland Oaks in Dothan on Sunday. Going through the LPGA Q-Series, Garcia finished tied for 24th at -15 overall for the eight qualification rounds. Players that finished inside the top-45 of the second and final event earned full LPGA Tour status for the 2023 season. A native of Asuncion, Paraguay, Garcia was named a Women's Golf Coaches Association Second Team All-American in 2018-19 after setting the Texas Tech all-time scoring average mark in a season (71.56). Garcia also finished with the most individual wins in a season in program history after winning three times in 12 starts during the 2018-19 season. Garcia also holds the most rounds of at least par or better in a single season (21). By finishing inside the top-45, Garcia has earned LPGA TOUR status in category 15 for the 2023 season. The LPGA Tour will hold 33 total events in 2023 beginning with the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions in Orlando (Jan. 19-22). This season a record-setting $101 Million will be awarded in official purses.
