Five unclaimed Veterans escorted through Lubbock to final resting place
This morning around 9:42 a.m., ,a group of Patriot Guard Riders escorted five unaccompanied and unclaimed veteran’s cremains from Amarillo to the Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
The 485-mile escort began in Amarillo and traveled through Lubbock, Sweetwater, Menard, Boerne and will end in San Antonio.
The five Veterans include three from the Vietnam War (1 Army, 2 Air Force), one from the Korean War (Air Force) and one Navy Veteran.
These Veterans have no known families and the Patriot Guard Riders will stand as their family during the funeral services.
The funeral service for these five Veterans will be held in the Assembly area of the Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery on Friday, April 21, 2017.
