Ballet de Mexico Master Class Lubbock MARCH 15, 16, & 17 – 2019

For the first time in Lubbock, TX, Raíces Compañía de Danza is proud to host famed dance legend, Amalia Viviana Basanta Hernandez, artistic director of the world renowned company, Ballet de Mexico de Amalia Hernandez. Maestra Amalia will be accompanied by guest instructors and together, they will guide dancers thru more than 20 hours of workshop and master class training. Repertoire will be original Jalisco and Conchero/Aztec choreographies authored by the late Amalia Hernandez. Cities such as New York, San Diego, and Chicago have hosted similar master classes. The patrimony of Ballet de Mexico’s 67 year history is within reach for anyone interested in the experience. No prior dance training is required. Ages five and up are welcome. Join us and Maestra Amalia Viviana Basanta Hernandez as we culminate a weekend of Ballet de Mexico Master Class Instruction! Guest groups opening the show will be Baila! Baila! from Albuquerque, NM, Roy Lozano’s Ballet Folklorico de Tejas, from Austin, TX, and Lubbock’s very own Lubbock High Ballet Folklorico de Oro. Headline entertainment will be provided by the extraordinary Mariachi Mexico Lindo of Lubbock, TX. Grand finale will feature Ballet de Mexico Master Class Participants performing Jalisco and Concheros, learned under the direction of Amalia V.B. Hernandez.
