South Plains College Working to Provide Local Solution to College Opportunities
Going to college is more important now than any other time in history. Having some type of college education, either an associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree, has a direct impact on employment opportunities, earning potential, and job retention. The State of Texas also realizes the immeasurable benefits of having a more educated population. As a result, the state has endorsed a new plan entitled “60x30TX.” The goal of this new plan is to ensure that all adults ages 25 to 34 will have some type of college certificate or degree by the year 2030. Currently, only 35 percent of Texans in this age bracket have an associate or bachelor’s degree.
